DOT.COM TO DOT.BOMB

We watched a documentary called startup.com on YouTube last week, this movie recorded about three young man established govWorks.com and how they failed due to the dot-com bubble burst. According to Julia Kagan,"A dotcom, or dot-com, is a company that conducts business through its website. A dotcom company embraces the internet as the key component in its business." The dot.com bubble was existed between 1995 and 2001 in the United State, and the babble made a negative impact on information technology and Internet industries. According to professor Fry, there are four stages for dotcom to become dotbomb. The first stage is "An innocent Beginning", it between 1992 and 1995.  During these years, many technology companies started thinking about how to improve themselves. For example, Microsoft became localization in 1993. The second stage for dotcom to become dotboom is  "Boom!!" that between 1995 to 1997. During this stages, there were many Internet companies occurred. And, some existed companies became more and more successful. For example,as professor Fry explains, "FreeZone launched and at it's peak it has 450,000 registers users in 1995." The third stage called "Insanity!!!!!!!!", it happened between 1997 and 2000. Some successful companies started to purchase other companies or websites. For example, according to professor Fry, "AOL purchased CompuServ in 1998. Yahoo acquires Broadcast.com for 5.7 billion in 1999." And, the internet bubble was published during this stage. After the "Insanity!!!!!!!" the stage of "Bust!@#$%!" that the name is so weird. Bust!@#$%! was started at 2000 and ended at 2003. In my mind, this stage was a nightmare for many internet companies, there were a lot of internet companies went bust or close their service items. For example, Pets.com and Marchfirst went bust in 2000 and govWorks.Inc also bankrupt at the same year. In my mind, the dotcom created a lot of successful Internet companies and brought lot of wealth to them, however, after the bubble burst, dotcom became a bomb and made a great part of these company went bust and became nothing.
